This year has brought some pretty significant changes at the surgery.
After approximately a quarter century of dedicated hard work, two longstanding clinicians both depart the team.
Dr John Stammers arrived in place of Dr Gerald Townsley in 2001. His prior life before medicine included being an RAF Nimrod navigator, and John brought so many other skills with him including leadership within health service politics, for example as Chair of the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group. He continues to live locally and is perhaps likely to be spotted in retirement with his golf clubs at Southwold Golf club.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner Julie Buckner similarly has decided to bring to an end her outstanding commitment to the care of our patients and leaves in June. She has her own very loyal following of patients and has always given absolute commitment to ensuring that the patients’ healthcare needs were the priority.
We know that all the community will wish them both wonderful retirements.
Sole Bay Health Centre has brought in a mixture of new clinicians to guarantee ongoing high standards of care are maintained.
We are delighted to have brought in three GPs to the practice – Dr Karen Blades, Dr Sarah Evans and Dr Sophie Beales. Our new Advanced Nurse Practitioner is Megan Williams.
